WNMU President: University ‘fared admirably’ in Legislative session

SILVER CITY >> Although money was tight during the recent New Mexico legislative session, Western New Mexico University came out with a slight budget increase after all was said and done.
“Overall, the university did well,” WNMU President Joe Shepard said on Monday. “Our percentage was one of the highest of the university community. Overall, Western New Mexico University fared admirably.”
Shepard said Representatives Dianne Hamilton and John Zimmerman worked hard to protect the university in the House, while Senators Howie Morales and John Arthur Smith provided support and leadership in the Senate.
