Wirth proposes measure to refine rules for state’s public campaign funds

Candidates using public campaign funds would no longer be allowed to use those funds to pay themselves or their relatives to campaign if the Legislature passes a bill pre-filed this week by a Santa Fe senator.
Senate Bill 58, sponsored by Sen. Peter Wirth, D-Santa Fe, also would prohibit any public money from being used by candidates who have no opponent.
