Skandera confirmation hearing set for Monday

With just four days left in this year’s legislative session, the Senate Rules Committee has scheduled a confirmation and possible vote on Public Education Secretary-designate Hanna Skandera.

Sen. Linda Lopez, head of the Rules Committee and a Democrat running for governor, said Sunday that the committee will schedule Skandera for an 8:30 a.m. hearing Monday morning in the Roundhouse. The news comes as a Senate Joint Resolution that would eliminate the position of secretary of education by the end of the year makes its way to the Senate Floor for a vote — possibly as soon as today, Sunday.
