The mean season is winding down to a fat zero.

Less than two weeks remain in New Mexico’s 60-day legislative session, one that’s been short on accomplishments and long on attacks. More than anything, it’s been a relentless spin cycle on one issue.

Listening to Republican legislators, one would never know that hundreds of thousands of people in New Mexico hold jobs and get paid for doing them. No secret police force handcuffs workers before they head to business parks, construction sites and office buildings to earn their pay. No law prohibits honest labor.
