Senator seeks new board to oversee state’s tattoo industry

Tattoo parlors may not get much attention from captains of industry, but New Mexico’s youngest state senator says they are a thriving concern in need of their own regulatory board.
Sen. Jacob Candelaria, 28, introduced a bill Tuesday to create the state Body Art Board.
Candelaria, D-Albuquerque, says this additional board would actually eliminate government bureaucracy and help businesses grow by lessening the state’s backlog in applications of tattoo artists who are seeking or renewing a license.
