SENATOR PETER WIRTH TO APPEAR ON “REPORT FROM SANTA FE”
Senator Peter Wirth, Santa Fe, District 25, the new Chairman of the Senate Conservation Committee, will be one of this week’s guests on “REPORT FROM SANTA FE.” Wirth and Representative Nate Gentry (R-Bernalillo), the Minority Whip of the House, will discuss bipartisanship and the changes of leadership in both chambers.
Among the legislation introduced and to be discussed by Senator Wirth are SB 13, which closes a tax loophole so that out-of-state corporations pay their fair share of taxes; SB 15 a transparency bill demanding disclosure of corporate campaign donors, and SB 18 the GMO food labeling proposal.
“When you have a New Mexico store like Baillo’s next door to a big box, they should pay the same tax,” said Senator Wirth. “The governor has now made corporate tax reform part of her agenda and she wants to lower the rate and change the formula that we use, so I am encouraged that we can have a true bi-partisan discussion and broaden the tax base.
“When everyone pays their fair share and it broadens the base, guess what? You can lower the rates.”
The segment is hosted by veteran journalist and interviewer, Lorene Mills (www.reportfromsantafe.com).
Here are the times the show will air all around New Mexico on public television and radio this weekend:
