Senator Michael Padilla Sponsors Job Fair Wednesday, June 25
Says He Hopes Fair Will Help New Mexicans During Tough Economic Times

Santa Fe, NM – Senator Michael Padilla (D-14-Bernalillo) will sponsor his second annual job fair June 25 at  the Harrison Middle School Gymnasium located at 3912 Isleta Boulevard SW in Albuquerque from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. He says he couldn’t be more proud to sponsor the public event, aimed to promote and improve employment in New Mexico. According to Sen. Padilla, last year the fair attracted over 2,000 people, and this year his goal is to increase the number of attendees.

“I have some of the highest poverty levels in the state in my district, and this job fair is designed to help my constituents, as well as New Mexicans all over the state, have hope for their futures,” said Sen. Padilla. “The number one thing we can do to assure that our brothers and sisters keep and maintain their homes is to help them find solid employment.”

According to the fair’s informational flyer, 57 employers have already registered to participate in the job fair. “The employers that have registered for the job fair are all hiring right now,” Sen. Padilla added.

Currently, New Mexico is ranked last in employment in the country and is one of two states that lost jobs in the last year.  Sen. Padilla says he hopes the job fair will lead to employment for some New Mexicans during these tough economic times.

“We have to assure the people of our state are taken care of. Events like these might be of assistance in helping our state recover and I will do whatever I can to keep promoting economic growth,” Sen. Padilla noted.
