Senate panel could subpoena fair manager

The political fight over a controversial lease with The Downs Racetrack & Casino at the state fairgrounds in Albuquerque escalated Wednesday as the Senate Rules Committee moved to subpoena Expo New Mexico General Manager Dan Mourning.

Sen. Linda Lopez, D-Albuquerque, chairwoman of the committee, has drafted a resolution asking for a subpoena forcing Mourning to appear before the committee Feb. 17.
