A day after failing to land a $5 billion Tesla Motors factory and as many as 6,500 jobs, Gov. Susana Martinez helped announce details of the long-planned expansion of Santa Fe Brewing Co.
During a noisy news conference at the brewery, Martinez said she was disappointed that Tesla apparently had chosen Nevada as the manufacturing site of batteries for its electric cars. Tesla’s formal announcement in Carson City, Nev., had not yet been made when Martinez gave a broad outline of New Mexico’s efforts to attract Tesla’s factory, the largest private jobs project in the West this year.
Martinez would not discuss the economic incentives that New Mexico offered, saying it would be irresponsible to talk about a competition that was fluid and still might not be over.
