When Monique Jacobson was tapped to head the state’s Children Youth and Families Department, she made clear that she hoped to hire more employees to reduce the beleaguered department’s caseloads.
But when presented Tuesday with two proposed budget plans — one by the Legislative Finance Committee that would add 66 new employees to handle child abuse investigations, and another by Gov. Susana Martinez’s administration that would add just 45 — Jacobson endorsed the governor’s plan.
