The Navajo Nation and other tribes whose gambling agreements with New Mexico expire in June will soon ask state lawmakers to endorse a new pact they’ve negotiated with the governor.
The final version of the proposed compact is expected to be forwarded to the Legislature this week by Gov. Susana Martinez’s office.
“As soon as it comes down, I expect it to move fast,” said Sen. Clemente Sanchez, D-Grants, chairman of the Committee on Compacts.
