Governor signs bills aiming to improve access to health care

Several of the bills signed into law by Gov. Susana Martinez since the end of the 2015 legislative session were related to health care, including measures that affect prescription drugs, optometrists, child vaccinations, physical therapy and other areas.

The health-related bill that received the most attention was Senate Bill 323, sponsored by Sen. Mark Moores, R-Albuquerque, which will establish a state website where consumers can compare the costs for medical procedures at various hospitals. This measure, which was pushed by the Santa Fe think tank Think New Mexico, was signed by the governor last week.
