FCC chairman coming to Albuquerque

The event, hosted by the by the Media Literacy Project and the Digital Justice Coalition of New Mexico, will focus on net neutrality, prison phones, rural broadband access, improved internet in schools and libraries, and recent telecommunications mergers.
“This is his first public appearance following the net neutrality rulings at the FCC,” said state Sen. Jacob Candelaria, D-Bernalillo, who helped organize the event. “What I went to engage him in really centers around net neutrality. I think that New Mexico being 50th in terms of Internet connectivity raises real questions about whether these rules will raise prices for either startups or consumers. That poses a real threat to our state. For me, that’s important to New Mexicans.
