According to the Albuquerque Journal’s editorial of April 12, “the HSD shakeup worked.” This opinion was based on new U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services numbers reporting a 16 percent increase in services delivered since the takeover of Behavioral Health Services by Arizona firms, rather than the 23 percent decrease reported by CMS a couple of months back.

The editorial points to alleged overbilling by New Mexico behavioral health providers, and claims that critics have exaggerated concern for those patients and families that may have lost services during this transition.
